Seattle Holiday Events - Gingerbread Village

One of Seattle’s most beloved holiday traditions, the Gingerbread Village brings “Once Upon a Time” to life with far off places, princesses and princes, and magical castles. Local architecture firms and trade associations team up with the Sheraton’s culinary team and together donate more than 400 hours of experience to design, bake, and build the gingerbread masterpieces. This year, six architecture firms – DLR Group, MulvannyG2 Architecture, Callison Architects, Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, 4D Architects and Weber Thompson – are teaming up with the Sheraton’s culinary team to present six fairytale-inspired castles; all to benefit JDRF.

The gingerbread creations will be displayed in the hotel’s lobby from November 20, 2012 until January 1, 2013, and visitors will have the chance to vote for their favorite display throughout the duration of the exhibit. The event is free to the public, but donations to the Northwest Chapter of the JDRF are encouraged and appreciated. The Gingerbread Village has raised more than $600,000 for JDRF in the past 19 years and welcomes about 100,000 visitors annually.
